Q: Is there a right way and a wrong way to pack a box?
A: Yes. Here are some tips for a successful :
- Make sure all your boxes are properly labeled
1. Room Location
2. Short list of box contents
3. Label box "Fragile", if needed
- Do not over-pack large boxes. Books and heavy smaller items need to be packed in smaller boxes, while large boxes hold blankets, pillows, large toys, and bulky items.
- Do not pack with boxes that have been used on more than one other occasion (two uses should be the limit, if possible). They have a tendency to fall apart during the move, possibly losing or breaking the items in the box.
Q: Are there any ways to cut costs on my move?
A: Sure. One suggestion is to have everything that can be packed into a box, boxed up and ready to go. This will cut down the time it takes to move your items. Another idea is to have your beds broken down, mirrors and glass shelves taken off, and appliances disconnected. Time is money so the quicker we can do the job, the more money you save!
Other Moving Tips:
Lone Star Moving recommends having all of your immediate necessities (documents, keys, money/checkbook, personal effects, Rx medicines) stored away during the move so they are not lost or misplaced.
Lone Star Moving also recommends having pets put up during the move.
